CUIMUN 2016

As every year, a delegation of ETH students had the honor of attending the international MUN conference of Cambridge University. In sync with OxIMUN, the international MUN conference of Oxford University,
the topic was “Achieving Gender Equality”. The conference started off with an interesting talk by Lucy Frazer, Member of Parliament (MP) for South East Cambridgeshire, sharing her experience dealing with the still existing burden she faces as a working mother in the UK; and then immediately continued with its intriguing committees! Nearly the entire delegation represented Brazil in various committees such as (but not limited to) Interpol, debating the Panama Papers and how the world can cooperate internationally to prevent further tax evasions; SOCHUM, trying to get a grip on the issue of forced marriage; and, suiting the topic, UN Women, finding a consensus on female participation in the military and what the world community can do to make sure that women around the world can get access to necessary hygiene products! Next to the debates, the delegation enjoyed pleasant socials with interesting people from all around the world, and got to spend the remaining time in the beautiful town of Cambridge. All in all, the weekend was a success and we are hoping to send another delegation to CUIMUN in 2017!
