ETH MUN participated at SGMUN in St. Gallen from December 5th to 8th, representing our organization with a delegation of five members. SGMUN, hosted by the University of St. Gallen, brings together delegates from Swiss, German, Dutch universities and beyond for intense debates and simulations of both the UN and interesting new committees, like historical NATO or the Warsaw Pact. Our delegates took on diverse roles: Alexander Herforth covered the Historical NATO committee in the International Press Corps, Aryush Ghildiyal and Jakob Sonnenfeld represented Albania and Bulgaria in the Warsaw Pact committee, Florian Kortstiege acted as South Korea in the UNSC, and Teofan Damjanovic-Behrendt represented Iraq at UNICEF. The combination of substantive debate, social interactions at events and a huge quantity of memes, including memorable moments like Jakob’s Bulgarian yoghurt memes and Teofan’s Christmas tree punishment, made SGMUN a rewarding experience for our delegation.
