FS25 Session 06

Debate was short due to low attendance on the last day before the spring break. Most delegates emphasized the need for dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Jubaland, and more widely the Federal States of Somalia. There was a moderated caucus about democracy in Somalia, where most of those present expressed their support for the FGS (with the exception of Sierra Leone), although some (such as France) called into question, whether the development of democracy should be the Council’s first priority.

At the end of the session, two working papers were formally introduced, which can be found here.
