Sixth Joint Session of the US Congress

If we have to use a one-sentence summary or even a book title to describe the last week’s session, Shakespeare’s “Much ado about nothing” would definitely be a fitting candidate. Just as the debate was about to kick off, the Democrat bill was forcibly amended by the Republicans. In the aftermath, the Democrats decided to turn against their own bill and killed the new agenda proposal, thus shattering again all efforts for a bipartisan agreement. Nonetheless, the sheer number of working papers that are being carefully discussed and prepared outside of the Senate’s walls just mirrors the willingness to pave the road for negotiation. The coming session will once more be proof of whether there will be again light at the end of this seemingly infinite tunnel.
