In spite of infrastructure still not being labeled a ‘sexy topic’, the Republicans have been fighting like lions to push this topic through in the absence of some will for a compromise on the horizon. The Democrat speeches, on the other hand, have been marked by emotion-laden words concerning the importance of healthcare. The Dems too have shown little will to give up an inch, in fear of the opposition wanting a mile. In other (infrastructure-related) words: if this gridlock is supposed to continue for the remaining weeks, the block risks entering a seemingly infinite dead-end and thereby running the country into a brick wall. Now it is the task of the delegates to build again the desperately needed trust out of the rubble.
