Fifth Joint Session of the US Congress

The last session prior to the ZuMUN conference was marked by an unambiguously bipartisan hostile stance towards China and a general will to protect Taiwan. Nonetheless, the will for cooperation seemed to be short-sighted, as the Democrats had been pushing for an amendment to the agenda which saw the broadening of the scope of foreign policy and an addition of healthcare at the end. The Republicans, on the other hand, echoed their will to compromise under the condition that the latter topic is replaced by the recent Republican mantra called energy. The coming session shall be just another demonstration of how US Americans put the fate of their country in the hands of responsible, politically savvy ETH and EPFL students. Let’s hope so at least.
